Murals Honouring Philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda (Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine)

Artistic Activities

As part of the 300th anniversary of Ukrainian philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda’s birth, New Acropolis has collaborated with local city councils, artists, and volunteers to create two murals in Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk.

Renowned artist and designer Roman Bonchuk crafted the mural in Ivano-Frankivsk, depicting Skovoroda standing on an open book with the inspiring inscription “Spiritual weapon is stronger than physical ones.” The mural adorns a significant architectural landmark in the heart of the city.

Meanwhile, in Vinnytsia, Skovoroda is portrayed in a meditative pose against the backdrop of concentric circles of the sun, with storks flying above him. The mural was brought to life through the artistic talents of illustrator and graphic designer Kateryna Bonetska and Vinnytsia artist Oleksandr Nikityuk, and was made possible by charitable donations from residents and supporters of the city. The piece features the inscription “Spread the distance of your vision.”

These murals are a beautiful tribute to Skovoroda’s legacy and serve as a reminder of the importance of philosophical and spiritual pursuits in today’s world.”
