Promoting culture with Bookcrossing (Ladispoli, Italy)
At the station of the city of Ladispoli, New Acropolis inaugurates the 3rd Bibliocasetta! The other two are located near two much-visited parks, park Caere Vetus and garden Nazareno Fedeli, exactly in the playground area, so that children and parents can enjoy them.
What are these Bibliocasette?
The Bibliocasette are bookcrossing points to foster reading and the free circulation of books of all kinds, where citizens are protagonists in both the offering and the receiving. These structures are built entirely with recycled materials (such as fruit crates and fence posts), to promote the idea of reusing objects and materials in the round, thus reducing the environmental impact: for this reason they are practically at almost zero cost. Weekly, they are checked out by volunteers, who replenish them when necessary or collect bags of books that are left nearby. The wonderful experience is to see how gratefully this initiative has been accepted by the citizens, promoting real civic education, not only among the volunteers but among the beneficiaries, confirming that the example is the best vehicle of ideas.
Rare, almost nil, the acts of vandalism received; much, on the contrary, the use and exchange that results.
