What can symbols give us? (Pécs, Hungary)

World Philosophy Day

The Pécs Centre of New Acropolis Hungary held a handicraft event, combined with a lecture, on symbols. The programme was inspired by the UNESCO World Philosophy Day, joined by New Acropolis centres worldwide. The presenter introduced the audience to the basic principles of symbolic thinking, and then, through the example of the Egyptian scarab, they explored what symbols can say to a person who wants to evolve. The participants reflected on the parallels between the life of the scarab and that of the disciple, and on all the patient work that perfecting oneself requires. Finally, everyone had the chance to paint their own scarab medallion to remind them of the abilities and potentials that are waiting to be developed in all of us.
