Earth Festival (Oeiras-Cascais, Portugal)

Mother Earth Day

Celebrating Mother Earth Day, Nova Acropolis Oeiras-Cascais held the ‘Earth Festival’, through a diversified programme in homage to Mother Nature.

The event began with a presentation on ‘The therapeutic wonders of the plant world’ by the pharmacist and member of Nova Acropolis of Florianópolis (Brazil), Roberto Pértile, director and founder of the project ‘Seiva Natural’, who spoke of an innovative work, which combines the knowledge of modern science with traditional knowledge, a harmonization that results in a very efficient pharmacopoeia, without side effects on health.

This was followed by three short talks based on the scientific posters displayed in the session:

Sabrina Sales spoke about the geometry of soft cells and their tendency towards adaptability and a geometry based on curves.

Patrick Freire gave the second lecture, which dealt with the wonderful world of bees and the New Acropolis beekeeping project in Portugal.

Paulo Loução introduced those present to the concept of emergence developed by the biologist Stuat Kauffman, giving examples from biology and from human history itself, such as the surprising case of Göbekli Tepe, where the work of Klaus Schmidt changed the current paradigm regarding the emergence of the Neolithic revolution.

Science gave way to poetry, poetry that celebrated the wonders and beauties of Nature. Beauties that served as inspiration for later moments of dance and collective singing.

The event ended with a toast dedicated to Mother Earth, recalling the necessary reconnection of humans with the Living Whole of which we are an integral part.
