In the Heart of Darkness – The Secrets of Winter (Rishon Lezion, Israel)

Artistic Activities

We recently hosted an inspiring event focused on winter and the profound life lessons it offers. Here’s a glimpse into our experience:
Through diverse workshops, we delved into the mysteries of winter, uncovering beauty and light hidden within its depths. Beyond long coats and warm soups, winter holds a deep significance that can positively transform our lives. We gathered to explore and experience winter from a symbolic and ritualistic perspective.

Event Highlights:

    • A short TED-style talk on the relationship between light and darkness in ancient cultures and its practical implications for our lives.
    • A choice of one workshop out of the following options:

* Growing Between Light and Shadow: A movement workshop where we explored self-awareness through dance, experiencing the boundaries of ourselves using our physical bodies. We examined when to adhere to patterns and rules and when to push boundaries.

* Fermentation and Conquests: Practically, we learned the art of fermentation. Symbolically, we connected the process to internal developments, highlighting the unseen movements and empowerment that arise through patience.

* The Art of Kintsugi – Golden Cracks: This workshop on the ancient Japanese art taught us to see beauty in brokenness. As tools are repaired with gold, so do we learn to integrate our own fractures into beauty. (Participants could bring broken ceramic pieces to reconstruct as part of the artistic process).

The event concluded with a symbolic ceremony to strengthen our inner light, followed by a communal lunch and Hanukkah candle lighting.
