Philosophical Walk (Yokohama, Japan)
Under the cold skies, many people gathered to hold a philosophy walk along the Rokkoku Pass Hiking Trail.
We entered the pleasant forest and first did work to open our five senses. Although we are given a rich five senses, in our busy days, we often overuse only our eyesight.
This is a proposal to awaken our hearing, touch, and smell even when we are in nature, and enjoy the forest to the fullest. We all felt the birds singing and the cool winter wind.
At today’s sharing session, we got the impression that many comments were made on the themes of “seeing each day anew,” “humility,” and “forgiveness.”
Thus are the quotes that were distributed to everyone today. We hope these words reach everyone who reads them.
-He who does not know how to follow others cannot be a good leader. (Aristotle)
-Life is a horse. Either you ride the horse or the horse takes you. (Socrates)
-To make use of what you have is to make use of nothing (Things that seem useless and have no practical use actually have a truly beneficial function) (Laozi)
-You should consider each day as a completely different life. (Seneca)
-What you think in your heart will come true. Good fortune will come to those with the right heart. (Buddha)
-Where is happiness? Those who love honor see it in the actions of others. Those who love pleasure see it in their own feelings. Those who are enlightened see it in their own actions. (Marcus Aurelius Antoninus)
-It doesn’t matter how slowly you go, as long as you don’t stop. (Confucius)
-All masons know that you can’t build a good stone wall with only large stones, without small ones as well. (Plato)
-Virtue is harmony. (Pythagoras)
-Forgiveness is better than revenge. (Epictetus)
