To be true to oneself or to lose oneself: the philosopher in the face of the unknown (Paris 5, France)

Cultural Activities

In an increasingly uncertain world with shifting reference points, philosophy is once again a necessity. The complexity of current political developments, with their democratic crises, international tensions and social upheavals, confronts us with a fundamental choice: should we adapt at all costs, even if it means losing ourselves, or should we remain true to our deepest values?
This was the question that Thierry Adda, philosopher and President of Nouvelle Acropole France, addressed to the audience. It was an opportunity for exchange and reflection, and an occasion to question our ability to navigate a changing world without disavowing what constitutes our essence.
Philosophy in the urgency of the present
Today, political debates are becoming more radical, distrust of institutions is growing and everyone is looking for meaning in their commitments. Philosophy is not an intellectual luxury, but a tool for resistance and action. It allows us to take a step back, to clarify our options and not to give in to the temptation to give up or get angry.
During this conference a strong idea emerged: thinking is already acting. We cannot wait for the future to take shape without us. We need to open up new perspectives, to imagine a world where thinking is inseparable from commitment and where fraternity becomes a pillar of social reconstruction.
A call for responsibility and unity
This conference was an invitation not to submit to the times, but to go through them with lucidity and courage. For although the current situation may seem chaotic, it is also a call to rethink our priorities and to work together for a more just and humane future.
Let us hope that the vision of chaos does not lock us into despair, but spurs us towards a shared responsibility: that of making philosophy a lever for transformation and a compass for the future.
And you, what is your compass in this changing world?
