Lecture and workshop: The Everyday Hero – How to Know Yourself (Belgrade, Serbia)

Promotion of Philosophy

The Belgrade Acropolitans held a lecture and workshop on the heroic way of life, inspired by Delia Steinberg Guzmán’s book The Everyday Hero.

Myths about heroes are part of humanity’s shared heritage, although today it is not always easy to identify with them. Still, we can all recognize heroism and feel certain heroic qualities within ourselves.

This was precisely the theme of the gathering: how to recognize our heroic nature, how to face fear, the stress of everyday life, the lack of dreams, and how, through the development of values, we can come to know ourselves, grow stronger, and develop personal freedom.

During the workshop, every participant received a small act of courage and discussed in groups how to accomplish them using one of the virtues. Here are a few examples.

Tasks: do not criticize anyone today; recognize three habits that weaken you, do not get angry for an entire day… And the virtues that can help in this: generosity, responsibility, and perseverance.
