Mother Earth Day (Serbia)
Volunteers from Belgrade and Novi Sad branches celebrated Mother Earth Day with numerous activities during March and April.
We started with a tree-planting drive in cooperation with public forestry company “Vojvodinašume” and planted over 600 poplar saplings in Vojvodina – one of the least reforested European regions.
An eco-weekend followed – a two-day gathering and teamwork at the property of Nova Akropola, organized with the aim of raising awareness about coexistence and nature as our home. The volunteers cleaned part of the course of a village stream, organized an eco-hike, and participated in workshops on sustainable living, including making eco-friendly products.
Public lecture “Ecology of man” and the accompanying workshop aimed at showing us that the pollution in the physical environment comes from the pollution in our mental and emotional space.
The program ended on April 22nd, Mother Earth Day, with workshops related to sustainable fashion and eco-friendly cosmetics.
