New Acropolis in HBDF’s 64th Anniversary Celebration (Brazil)
New Acropolis Brasília took part in HBDF’s (Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal) 64th anniversary celebration (Brazil). Music and tributes to the hospital’s history marked the ceremony held in the unit’s garden. The celebration was attended by employees, volunteers, and authorities, concluding a week of festivities.
The orchestra of the Criança para o Bem program, conducted by Maestro Mário Brasil, treated the audience to excerpts from pieces such as Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. A social initiative of New Acropolis since 2007, the program welcomes children and teaches them how virtues are fundamental to the construction of each individual. Music is one of the tools used in the education of young participants, developing skills and values.
Speeches and Tributes
Among the speeches delivered, the hospital’s superintendent, Guilherme Porfírio Pereira Lisboa, highlighted the institution’s legacy. Dr. Luiz Fernando Vieira, a New Acropolis professor and clinical director of the Seraphis Integrative Medicine Clinic, and the director of New Acropolis in Brazil’s Northern region, Luís Carlos Marques Fonseca, were also present. Dr. Luiz Fernando worked as a thoracic surgeon at HBDF for 30 years.
In his speech, Professor Luís Carlos made a connection between the founding of Brasília and the creation of the Hospital de Base. He recalled that the federal capital was idealized by a doctor with the dream of building a city that represented the unity of the country. The Hospital de Base was born together with the city as a reference in healthcare for the population. “We are happy to participate in this history today and we are committed to working for integral health, awakening gestures of beauty, kindness, and justice,” he said finally.
