The Theseus team and teachers exchange ideas (Budapest, Hungary)
The under-30 community of New Acropolis Hungary, called the Theseus Group, presented a theatrical performance about the mythical hero’s journey through the labyrinth to some teachers they invited. The play was followed by a round table discussion.
The programme aimed at building a bridge of communication between generations and at exploring the situation and problems of young people. In addition, the younger and the older generations worked together to find workable solutions.
The three topics covered followed each other in 20 minute blocks:
- Crises in the lives of young people, the Minotaurs of our time
- What virtues are necessary for progress in this situation?
- What are the human ideals, the role models, that the participants would like to follow?
The participants agreed that, despite the difficulties, we should not give up our efforts to raise heroes, because young people are in great need of good examples, a loving environment, attention, and encouragement.
At the end of the evening, several teachers said that the few hours they had spent there had been just as useful to them as a professional development course, and that they would definitely pass on the knowledge they had gained.
