New course online: Spanish to English Legal Translation
The art of legal translation is not only about knowing legal terminology, it is also about understanding the background. For example, what is a contract in legal terms? How are court judgments written in Spanish and English? What are the differences and similarities between English and Spanish property law?
In this course you will learn about the principles and practice of legal translation with particular reference to three common areas: contract law, civil litigation and property law. There will be theoretical explanations combined with practical examples of translated texts, with a wealth of information on legal terminology and writing style. It is suitable both for Spanish and English native speakers.

About the teacher Julian Scott
B.A. in Spanish with French subsidiary, University of London (1979). Further Education Teacher’s Certificate (1983). Four modules of the course Diploma in Notarial Practice (2007), with merit in Roman Law, Contract Law, Public Law and Business Law.
