Volunteers color Easter for socially vulnerable children (São Leopoldo, Brazil South)
The Leopoldense community, invited by New Acropolis, participated in the project “Be a Volunteer for a Day”.
The courtyard was filled with color, smiles and much affection for the eggshell painting workshop. Participants enjoyed beautyfing the shells and then gifting them away. The target population of this volunteering action were children in socially vulnerable situations, coming from the Shelter House of the municipality.
The workshop offered the opportunity to recover techniques used by our ancestors. One of them, used by the Lithuanian nuns, involved water painting and enamel.
Anticipating the joy on the children’s faces, the volunteers involved in the project painted 180 eggshells.
This action supports and complies with the protocols of two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the 2030 agenda, proposed by the United Nations (UN). They are: SDG #3 Health and Wellness, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages; and SDG #4 Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
