Do you know the Brazilian women’s football team wore a pearl necklace on the Olympic podium?
According to a report from
Estadão, a Brazilian newspaper, during the preparation for the
Paris Olympics, professor and philosopher from
New Acropolis Brazil Lúcia Helena Galvão gave a lecture to the players at Granja Comary.
On this occasion, she used the allegory of a pearl necklace to show that, although each athlete is unique, it is their unity that forms a team capable of shining at the Games.
Coach Arthur Elias gave each player a pearl necklace to embody this idea. This necklace was worn on the podium at the Paris 2024 Olympics when the Brazilian women’s football team won the silver medal.
“We are a pearl and each one has their own light and shine. But we can only be united through a cord. This cord makes us strong. This necklace represents our unity. I am very proud of everything we have achieved,” stated Gabi Portilho.
Unity was the virtue emphasized by the Brazilian women’s football team throughout the Paris Olympic Games.
