New Acropolis Medellín celebrated 25 years of philosophy, culture and volunteering at the same time as the commemoration of World Philosophy Day.
In this context, all activities carried out during this event had the aim of remembering the importance of philosophy in our lives. Throughout one week, a program of diverse cultural events emphasized the need to recover the meaning of all the actions that we appreciate and undertake.
Participants in these events realized the multiple ways art is a humanizing factor and how sustainability must be an ongoing commitment.

Events were marked by pyramids and tombs, everyday life, symbolism, life and death, places such as Dendera, Philae, the temples of Karnak, Edfu… which fascinated the numerous attendees who took part in this wonderful journey.

New Acropolis Medellín continued its volunteering activities, and recently joined a reforestation initiative on one of the guardian hills of the city. During the two days commemorating Earth Day and Environment Day, volunteers prepared the land for the planting of native species, along with other volunteers and people from the area.

Supporting those who dedicate their time and effort to the care of animals is one of the objectives of the volunteering carried out by New Acropolis in the city of Medellin.
To this end a volunteering training workshop was organized in preparation for upcoming voluntary activities such as the one involving the Society for the Protection of Animals of this city. On this occasion, New Acropolis volunteers cleaned, painted and arranged the different spaces inhabited by these kittens rescued and cared for by the organization.

Calliope’s ‘beautiful voice’ was heard for the first time at the New Acropolis Medellin center thanks to the choir made up of 14 women and 4 men, who came together to give life to this musical experience with the name of the Muse of epic poetry and eloquence.

New Acropolis Medellin presented the seminar ‘Mindfulness: the power to live in the now’ in charge of the director of the ‘Hermes’ International Institute of Anthropology, Mr. Fernando Schwarz.
This intensive 8-hour long seminar had a great turnout of interested participants and included a variety of practical exercises to remember the importance of memory, as well as the development of the innate ability in man to focus his attention, allowing one to be more humane and effective in any action.
Prof. Schwarz presented his work Concentration in Tibetan Buddhism, offering a comprehensive framework for the study of consciousness and the development of integrative and full attention.
