Presentation of the novel “Oleum” (Cadiz, Spain)
In a new edition of the New Acropolis Cadiz Book Club, Jesús Lorente presented “Oleum, the oil of the gods”, with an interview with its author Jesús Maeso de la Torre.
Jesús Maeso, born in Úbeda (Jaén), has lived in Cádiz for many years and is one of the most famous Spanish writers of historical novels, having received numerous literary awards. His work has been translated into several languages.
This novel’s story takes place in Judea, Alexandria, Rome and Hispania in the first century A.D. and its main character is Ezra ben Fazael Eleazar, a young scribe, learned in law and versed in the elaboration of oil, perfumes and filters.
