Mother Earth Day (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Canada)
Mother Earth Day
On the occasion of World Earth Day, New Acropolis held its first edition of Mother Earth Day on April 22 in Montreal. Various activities to help us reconnect our body, soul, and spirit with nature, took place in different locations.
New Acropolis Montreal organized several conferences related to science, poetry, plants, cosmos, and aromatherapy. All featured speakers shared the desire to understand the world through philosophy and to communicate their love of nature with others. Over 50 people attended this first edition.
In addition, Agriculture Day was held on May 7 in the countryside with members of New Acropolis Montreal and Ottawa, so they could have a close contact and work with the land. Also members of the Toronto school carried out a park clean-up to collect waste. This day was the occasion for New Acropolis’ members and guests to meet, enjoy a sunny day, and work with their hands.
To top it all off, a few members performed a tribute dance to thank the Earth for bringing a sense of natural beauty to our lives.
Here is a summary of the activities:
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND PHILOSOPHY : LISTEN TO NATURE
Michel Binette gave a conference in the premises of New Acropolis Montreal on the connection between energy efficiency, nature, and philosophy.
Nature, the undisputed leader of energy efficiency and no-waste, should inspire us to adopt less polluting and less energy-intensive lifestyles.
POETRY OF THE EARTH – RECONNECTING WITH BEAUTY AND HARMONY
Could tapping into the power of words, the beauty of imagination, and the poetics of the Earth, help us reconnect with Nature’s harmony? This is what Céline Bouchard invited a dozen people, who attended her poetry workshop at the Insiders’ Café in Montreal, to do.
During this workshop, participants were presented with excerpts of chosen texts to help them connect with Mother Earth, the sound of Her words, Her colors, Her lights, Her vast array of images… and learn from She.
THE WISDOM OF PLANTS – RE-ENCHANTING MILLENIUM KNOWLEDGE
During this conference, Liliana and Sophie reminded us that in many cultures and civilizations, plants are seen as mysterious living beings bearing great wisdom.
OUR PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE – MYSTERIES OF THE COSMOS AND THE EARTH
What is the place of human beings and Planet Earth in the Universe? According to science, they are made of stardust, the same atoms of matter originating from the heart of the stars.
AROMATHERAPY – 12 ESSENTIAL OILS TO NOURISH YOUR WELL-BEING
Aromatherapist and philosopher Françoise Soria gave a fascinating presentation on aromatherapy and essential oils, and how these essences give us access to the the soul of plants, and help us in our quest for balance, both physical and spiritual.
About 20 people participated in this enchanting evening, and were offered with a drop of essential oil of their choice among the 12 that were presented. They also left with a better understanding of how essential oils can nourish their well-being.
