New Acropolis organized a talk on the most important ecological hazards currently threatening humanity. The presenter, a university professor, outlined and illustrated with examples the scale of the changes that human activity has brought about in the ecosystem since the beginning of the industrial revolution.
The audience also learned about positive examples from the recent past, where international cooperation has achieved noteworthy results in responding to environmental disasters. The talk also touched upon the question of what an individual or a community can do to avoid internal collapse in emergency situations, and highlighted the role of awareness-raising in the effort to preserve our natural environment and reduce our ecological footprint.
