Get your attention back! – seminar on the occasion of World Philosophy Day (Buda, Hungary)
At the Buda Centre of New Acropolis Hungary, a seminar on developing the ability to focus was organized under the title Get Your Attention Back. In the introduction the speaker talked about the nature of attention: its quality and persistence, and its various types or degrees. After that the audience learned the basic exercises of concentration, did some breathing exercises, and got acquainted with a traditional Buddhist diagram illustrating the steps of controlling our mind and focus.
The rest of the seminar gave practical tips on the conscious use of smart devices (phones, tablets, computers), as the more conscious we become about them, the more self-identical we can feel. In this way, we shall not only be able to look at events and situations in our lives attentively, but shall also become actively involved on a higher level.
