As a contribution to Art Day, Nova Acrópole held a lecture given by Carmen Morales, professor at Nova Acrópole Lisbon, entitled Art and Beauty, followed by a poetry recital by the Florbela Espanca group.

What is art? What is beauty? Can they be combined? Are they subjective perceptions? Is there beauty in all artistic expression, or can art escape this archetype? The debate is not new and, depending on one’s point of view, we could find a thousand nuances.

This lecture was an attempt to delve deeper into classical philosophy in search of answers to these and other questions about art and beauty.
