Finding Home Within: New Acropolis Travelers Explore the Desert (Israel)

Cultural Activities

What does home mean to us? Security? Ownership? Identity? Friends? Heart? Family? Values? Belonging? How does it feel to be home, or to be at home?

These are some of the questions explored during a recent desert journey organized by the New Acropolis community, seeking to connect philosophical inquiry with the natural world.

The “Journey Community” of New Acropolis regularly takes the classroom of philosophy outdoors into nature, examining identity-building questions —personal, communal, and human — to consciously design the home we choose to dwell within ourselves, among ourselves, and above us.

Over the weekend, participants from all over the country went on a unique expedition in search of “home” within the vast expanse of the desert.

Through shared experiences and introspection amidst the desert landscape, the travelers sought to define and create a sense of belonging that transcends physical spaces, finding solace and connection in the community they built along the way.
