The founder and editor of the Nueva Acrópolis philosophy magazine is strengthening the organisation’s cultural presence in the country with a message of depth, relevance and commitment to education.

To mark the official launch of Esfinge magazine in the Dominican Republic, the distinguished Spanish journalist and anthropologist María Dolores Fernández Figares visited Santo Domingo to present this cultural and educational project, which has been promoting philosophical thought and human development for more than five decades.

Fernández Figares, who founded *Esfinge* in 1974 alongside a team of collaborators from New Acropolis, continues to play an essential role as the author of the editorial and content editor, ensuring the intellectual quality and philosophical coherence of each issue. During her visit, she shared Esfinge’s mission with the media, volunteers and members of the educational community: to provide a space for reflection, culture and values that engages with the challenges of the present.

This event was sponsored by New Acropolis Dominican Republic, as part of its commitment to promoting culture and holistic education in the country. The event formed part of the organisation’s 27th-anniversary celebrations in the Dominican Republic and is part of a wider strategy to strengthen its presence in the national educational and cultural sphere.

In her speech, Fernández Figares highlighted the importance of “reclaiming deep thinking as a compass in times of uncertainty, especially amongst young people”.

With this move, *Esfinge* magazine has established itself as a significant voice on the Dominican publishing scene, opening up new possibilities for education and reflection. María Dolores Fernández Figares’s visit not only reinforces this process but also reaffirms the value of philosophy as a living tool for tackling the challenges of the 21st century.
