New Acropolis Valencia and GEA at the tribute ceremony (Valencia, Spain)
The Salvador Gadea Secondary School in Aldaia, Valencia, hosted a moving day of gratitude and recognition dedicated to all the individuals, volunteers and organisations that contributed to the school’s recovery following the damage caused by the cold snap last year.
Among those honoured, the work carried out by the volunteers from New Acropolis and GEA stood out, whose collaboration proved essential in the clean-up efforts, coordination of teams and logistical support in the days following the disaster. Thanks to their involvement — as emphasised by the school’s management — it was possible to resume academic activities quickly and effectively.
During the event, the school principal, together with teachers and pupils, took part in a round-table discussion where they shared their experiences, lessons learnt and reflections on that difficult time which, nevertheless, strengthened the bond between them all.
The students also presented an art exhibition featuring photographs, texts and visual artworks depicting the reconstruction process, whilst the school’s radio station screened a documentary video containing testimonies and emotions captured during those days.
As a gesture of gratitude, the volunteers representing the New Acropolis Valencia School of Philosophy and the GEA volunteer group received certificates of recognition and a handmade fan, a symbol of Aldaia, as a token of esteem and appreciation. Both groups had the opportunity to address the audience to share their experience and highlight the value of volunteering as a driving force for solidarity and human growth.
The day concluded in a deeply moving atmosphere of solidarity, reminding us that beyond material recovery, what was truly rebuilt was the human fabric. As highlighted during the event, “it wasn’t just a space that was cleaned up… it reaffirmed that together we are stronger”.
