Philosophy students take part in the Sports Days, combining athletics and art (Russia)

Sport Activities

Volunteers from Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Samara and Minsk (Republic of Belarus) took part in the Sports Days, competing in a range of disciplines: athletics, table tennis, archery, various swimming styles, chess and volleyball.

Inspired by the Ancient Greek ideal of the athlete who combines physical strength with the refinement of the soul, the volunteers from New Acropolis also devoted themselves to various artistic performances. As a result, the evenings were filled with poetry, music, dance and theatre.

For the philosophers, the approach is fundamental: what matters most is victory over oneself and one’s own limitations, pushing beyond the usual boundaries. And in these competitions there were no rivals, but rather the best of friends, for whom you sincerely wish victory as much as you do for yourself.
All of this transforms the Sports Days into a celebration of unity and solidarity.
