UNESCO World Philosophy Day – An Inspiring Retrospective (Germany)
UNESCO World Philosophy Day offers us a valuable annual opportunity to open spaces for dialogue and bring people into meaningful exchange. As part of the “Long Night of Philosophy”, a wide range of events once again took place in New Acropolis in Leipzig, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich – some in collaboration with partner institutions. Three special highlights were:
“The Right Moment” – The moment that changes everything
Time is more than what clocks measure. There are those rare moments when it seems to stand still—when we are fully in the here and now. Such luminous instants have been associated since antiquity with Kairos, a symbol for the special quality of the right moment.

Another highlight was the workshop “Earth Shift,” which invited participants to consciously shape the transformation of our time. Pareticipants explored what a simple, nature-connected, and fulfilling life might look like.
Equally enriching was the exploration of a “New Romanticism,” which counters the disenchantment of the world. Instead of separation, it emphasizes interconnectedness; instead of pure rationality, it opens space for ensoulment, vitality, and poetic approaches to reality. A shift in perspective inspired by intellectual history and newly supported by contemporary research.
Thus, the Long Night of Philosophy once again became an invitation not only to understand the world, but to shape it together with greater awareness and creativity.
