You Are Not an Algorithm”: Philosophy, Neuroscience and Consciousness (Brussels, Belgium)

Mother Earth Day

On the occasion of International Mother Earth Day, Nouvelle Acropole Belgium hosted a conference that left a lasting impression.

On 21 April, as part of International Mother Earth Day, Nouvelle Acropole Belgium brought together a large audience for an exceptional philosophical and scientific evening. Under the evocative title “You Are Not an Algorithm”, the conference offered an original journey from the biological architecture of consciousness to the horizons of philosophical freedom.

At a time when our decisions and behaviours seem increasingly shaped by codes and data, the central question of the evening rang out with force: what is it, deep within us, that refuses to be reduced to an equation?

Drawing from biology — that astonishing architecture of neurons and sensations — the speaker explored how the physical substrate of our experience can become the foundation of genuine inner freedom. Far from any simplistic dualism, the conference invited attendees to move beyond the illusion of the “human-machine”, to rediscover the power of felt experience, to understand how our consciousness binds us biologically and spiritually to the Earth, and to transform everyday automatisms into conscious, meaningful acts.

More than a transfer of information, it was an invitation to expand the very horizon of one’s own consciousness.

The success of the evening was tangible: the many participants left visibly inspired, and discussions continued spontaneously well into the night — a sure sign that the questions raised had touched something essential.
