Open mic attracted a lot of talented and sincere young people. Anything original was welcome – poems, prose, song, dance – though participants were asked to keep whatever it was that they did to 7 minutes.

We closed out the night with conversations about love over tea.

New Acropolis organized this trip to various countries and eras, to recognize the culture and traditions of different nations of the world. During the first part of the evening folk dances took the stage. Folk dancing is always an attempt to get closer to nature, to understand its laws and remain in harmonious interaction with it.
It consists of dancing together, hand in hand, and it is not necessary to be a professional, and is therefore accessible to everyone!

The second part of the evening was dedicated to the Renaissance. Generosity, beauty, elegance, gravity are the qualities that distinguish the dances of this period. Modern dances were very much part of this joyful evening as well!

In this light, several articles were published in the local press, and a documentary was featured  on local TV.

OINA news Feb16
A musical evening took place with a focus on ‘Russian music of the nineteenth century: Coming back to the roots’ within the framework of the lecture series ‘The Art of listening to music’.

When did Russian music appear? Until the 19th century there were two disconnected worlds: folk music and Church hymns. Musicians such as Dmitry Bortniansky, Alexander Alyabyev, Mikhail Glinka, marked the beginning of a journey of Russian music, overcoming the abyss between these two polarities.
