Public lecture: Socrates’ friendship (Belgrade, Serbia)
Today, many very different relationships are called “friendship” – from our friend being someone we use for material or emotional gain, someone who listens to our frequent complaining and nods unquestioningly at everything we say, to them being a person with whom we share our ideas and opinions. Socrates, however, says that the basis of a true friendship are man’s inner values. If we strive to know ourselves and to be better people, our friendships will have higher worth and quality.
