Installation of nesting boxes in the mountains (Valencia, Spain)

Ecological Volunteering

Last Sunday we travelled to the Valencian mountains to set up nesting boxes that had been made by students attending the workshop organized by the association “Ítaca Espacio Cultural” in Valencia.

The chosen site was in Aras de los Olmos, a beautiful town located between the provinces of Valencia, Cuenca and Teruel. There we were given more information about the nest-boxes and the function they perform, providing shelter for certain types of birds that live in the area (coal tit, blue tit and wren), which feed on insects and worms and prevent pests for the trees. In this way, the birds benefit while also contributing to the agricultural purposes of human beings.
