Keys to the Escape Room of Life (Győr, Hungary)

Promotion of Philosophy

In the Győr centre of New Acropolis Hungary, World Philosophy Day was celebrated with a theatrical play and escape room game based on Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. First, the organizers used excerpts from poems, sound effects, and images to help the participants feel what it could be like to live in chains, as the characters in the myth did.

Then, in a playful way, the participants identified in themselves the four main Platonic virtues: temperance, fortitude, prudence, and justice. The game leaders made these concepts practical and accessible at each scene with a variety of tasks, jigsaw puzzles, theatrical sketches about everyday life, or dramatic games engaging the audience.
