Love and peace (Nuremberg, Germany)

Cultural Volunteering

What is more badly needed in this time of turmoil than real love and peace?

The City of Nuremberg took this motto to frame their famous cultural event “Blue Night” this year. As in former years, more than 100,000 people flooded the city centre to take part in spectacular light installations and a number of other cultural attractions offered by some 60 institutions in town.

New Acropolis this time embarked on a philosophical “speed dating” experiment together with their visitors. A total of six different aspects of love and peace, such as friendship, fidelity, inner peace and also conflict & dialogue were addressed first by short speeches. Then the audience had the opportunity to exchange their ideas through a number of short face-to-face conversations.

A surprisingly large number of people were brave and open so to exchange their personal views and experiences around the respective topics, which additionally was inspired by exigent questions like “What makes a good friend?” or “Am I faithful to myself?”.

Certainly, all of them left the one-hour sessions very much enriched inside.
