Philosophy: therapy for the soul and a way of life (Ukraine, Kyiv)
We often speak of the philosophical way of life and its beneficial effect on the soul. On this occasion, we focus on a fundamental question:
What means help us to organise and maintain this way of life? How can we shape it in such a way that it allows each of us to put philosophical ideas into practice and grow inwardly?
We have come to understand that the soul needs means of movement in order to progress freely through life. These means are spiritual exercises: reading, listening to music, contemplating nature and other practices that strengthen the will, develop the imagination and awaken intuition. Their purpose is to help human beings become better and to make the world around them a better place. That is everyone’s responsibility.
New Acropolis as a School of Philosophy aims to develop the personality, creating a space and the necessary means to practise a philosophical way of life, thus continuing the philosophical-mystical tradition.
In pairs and small groups, participants reflected on the symbol of the goddess Athena, protector of life, inspirer of generosity and of the effort to overcome trials and purify oneself. We also shared our experiences, which help us to cultivate virtues, an inner code of dignity and the drive towards renewal.
The seminar concluded with exercises in imagination and contemplation, which allowed participants to experience more deeply the harmony between thought, action and the soul.
