“Training and volunteering.”

NA participated in the Inter-themed event on lifelong learning and volunteering, organized by the State Scholarships Foundation and National Unity of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the General Secretariat of Youth, under the European Year of Volunteering (2011) . Different organizations and volunteers involved took the opportunity to promote the importance of volunteering.
New Acropolis Volunteers visit the Dr. Stephen Maradona Shelter Home to give a special gift.
About a dozen young volunteers from NA participated in this tribute – gift to the children of this household.
The day began with an adaptation of the fable “The Fox and the Squirrel” with the aim that the children understand the importance of the values of solidarity, responsibility and perseverance. Later a story was told about the most important gifts we receive that are priceless: love, true friendship, the beauty of nature, etc. And finally a present was offered to each child as a souvenir of this event so special.
The activity was attended by the parents of these children who are temporarily living in the Dr. Esteban Shelter Home in medical treatment in various hospitals in the Federal Capital.
New Acropolis in Slovakia presented its new publications in the International Book Fair in Bratislava. The stand showed also archaeological reproductions, and NA members organized a craft workshop for children.
On this occasion three public lectures on Egypt and Mexico were offered, as a presentation.
In Ukraine, on the occasion of World Philosophy Day and the twentieth anniversary of NA in this country, was held in November 2011 the “Week of Philosophy”.
The events that took place in six Ukrainian cities consisted of lectures, film shows with philosophical content, philosophical cafes, etc.. It is remarkable an essay contest and a photo exhibition named “A man in search of meaning.” The best pictures were exhibited at the New Acropolis.
Celebrating World Philosophy Day, the International Organization New Acropolis Peru presented from 24 November to 16 December, the Exhibition: “The myth of King Arthur and the search for the grail.”
Through large photographic panels and scenery, the exhibition took us to the Middle Ages, to reveal the messages about the myth of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin, Morgana, Avalon and the mysterious Grail. Besides the artistic aspect of the exhibition, NA noted the symbolism of myths.
As part of the “INTERLIBER” Book Fair held in Zagreb between 8 – 13 November 2011, New Acropolis presented the latest publications from its publishing company. On 12 November – as part of the promotion of World Philosophy Day – and after a brief introduction about the activities of NA, a presentation was given to promote this book, which deals with the Stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus and Cicero.
The main purpose of this event was to bring the book to the attention of the public and to highlight the importance of the application of philosophy in daily life.
A Liberating Philosophy: “Nothing changes unless you change”.
To mark the occasion of World Philosophy Day, the central branch of New Acropolis in Argentina organized an exhibition entitled “Nothing changes unless you change”. The exhibition presented a unified vision of Science, Art, Religion and Culture. Seen in this light, Philosophy is transformed into Love of Wisdom, an unending search for all that is best in ourselves and in others, a path that gives meaning to the process of human development.
