Each year, the International Organization New Acropolis publishes a yearbook with some of the most significant activities held in the 60 countries where it is active.

On April 23, a new center was opened in Colonia La Reforma, in the city of Tegucigalpa.

The head of N. A. in Honduras, Gustavo Molina, along with members and supporters of the institution, accompanied the director of the new center, Fayzuri Figueroa, at the first N.A. activity conducted in that city. It was a course entitled “Living philosophy”.

Currently NA has three centres in Honduras, permanent study areas in the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. There are courses in archery, Arabic dance, speed reading, vegetarian cooking, tai chi, the art of bonsai, painting and drawing, and various volunteer activities.

The International Organization New Acropolis (IONA) held its annual assembly in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, attended by representatives and delegations from more than fifty countries.

International management presented reports and reviews of actions carried out through 2011-2012, including the development of curricula of the School of Philosophy of IONA, the extensive program of activities to commemorate World Philosophy day, and environmental, volunteer, and humanitarian programs.

The Yearbook was presented containing the activity report for the year 2011 where, among other figures, 2,017 volunteer activities and about 20,000 participants in the Philosophy programs worldwide are listed.

The Assembly adopted its Annual Declaration, which reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting philosophy, culture and volunteering as an excellent way to contribute to the betterment of society.

The Lifesaving and Rescue Group of NA in Uruguay provided a refresher course in first aid and water rescue for 30 lifeguards. The certificate is one of the requirements to work as a lifeguard in Spain, at the Lain Entralgo Agency of the Community of Madrid.

What are women are looking for today? What values define them? What are their characteristics?

“… Femininity cannot be limited to sensitivity, passivity and motherhood.  We need to rediscover and express the creativity and transforming capacity,” commented Prof. Adriana Vellegal during the conference at the headquarters of New Acropolis in Argentina.

New Acropolis in Slovakia continues the cycle of public lectures, a program organized in conjunction with the Information and Documentation Centre of UNESCO. The Jerusalem lecture received more than 100 people and was held in the University Library of Bratislava. It was given by the director of NA in Slovakia, Kamila Hermannová.

Nueva Acropolis Uruguay  y Aiesec

A representative of NA in Uruguay and the President and Vice President of AIESEC (Association Internationale des Sciences Economiques et étudiants in commerciales), announced a set of activities planned for 2012. The presentation was held in the conference room of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
